Privacy Policy

01Who we are

Devshop (“we”, “us”) is a software studio that designs, builds and ships digital products. We decide why and how the personal data described here is used, which makes us its data fiduciary (or “controller”) under data protection law.

02What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us, plus the minimum a website needs to run.

When you use the contact form

• Your name and email address (required)
• Company name, phone number and promo code (optional)
• The type of project you pick and anything you write about it (optional)

When you use the “Start a build” chat

• The project types you pick
• Your name and email address (required)
• A promo code and a description of your project (optional)

When you email us or message us on WhatsApp

Whatever you include in the message, along with the details that come with it, such as your email address or phone number and WhatsApp profile name.

Automatically, when you visit

• Standard technical request data (IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and when), which our hosting provider records in server logs.
• One entry in your browser's session storage (devshop:intro-seen) so the opening logo animation only plays once per visit. It's deleted when you close the tab, and we never read it on our side.

We don't use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or third-party tracking scripts. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first.

03How we use it

• To read and reply to your enquiry, usually within 24 hours
• To scope, estimate and discuss the project you asked about
• To apply a promo code you've given us
• To keep the website running, secure and free of abuse
• To meet our legal obligations

We don't sell your data, and we don't add you to marketing lists. If we ever want to send you something beyond a reply to your enquiry, we'll ask first.

04Why we're allowed to use it

When you submit a form or message us, you're giving us your data for a specific purpose: getting a reply about your project. We rely on that consent, and we use the data only for that purpose and the related ones listed above.

Technical request data is processed because a website can't be delivered or kept secure without it.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing admin@velvethub.in. That stops further use of your enquiry details, but doesn't undo what we've already done with them.

05Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to run the business, and only as much as they need:

• Our email provider, which hosts the inbox your form submissions are delivered to
• Our website hosting provider, which serves the site and keeps its server logs
• WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us there. Their own privacy policy applies to that conversation.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to professional advisers (such as lawyers or accountants) who are bound by confidentiality.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside India. Where they do, we'll only use providers that protect it to the standard this policy describes, and only where the law allows the transfer.

06How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't become a project: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted
• Enquiries that become a project: for as long as the engagement lasts, and afterwards for as long as our contract or the law requires
• Server logs: for as long as our hosting provider keeps them, which is normally a short period

You can ask us to delete your details sooner, as described below.

07Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we've used it
• Correct, complete or update it
• Erase it, when we no longer need it for the purpose you gave it for
• Stop using it, by withdrawing your consent
• Let someone else exercise these rights for you if you die or become incapacitated

If you're outside India, you may have further rights under your own local law (for example, the GDPR in the EU and UK). Write to us and we'll honour them where they apply.

To make a request, email admin@velvethub.in. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to reply within 30 days.

08How we protect it

The site is served only over HTTPS, access to our inbox is limited to the people who need it, and we use reputable providers. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but if a breach affects your data, we'll notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

09Children

Our services are meant for businesses and adults. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us their details, email admin@velvethub.in and we'll delete them.

10Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, and we have a way to contact you, we'll tell you directly.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
